Manufacturer Requirements
Trainer Parts (Polymer or Metal)
Form‑only, non‑functional, non‑airworthy parts used for training, visualization, mockups, or fit checks.
Internal QA; basic dimensional checks; maintain print files; ensure repeatability; no material pedigree; no NDI; no configuration control.
Airworthy Polymer Parts
Non‑structural polymer components that will fly and therefore must meet airworthiness requirements.
Follow MIL‑STD‑3021 process controls; maintain material pedigree; environmental conditioning/testing as required; AS9100 QMS; configuration control; provide traceability documentation.
Ground‑Use Functional Metal Parts
Functional metal AM parts for ground equipment, AGE, tooling, fixtures, or support systems. Not airworthy.
AS9100 QMS; follow applicable AMS metal AM specs; NDI if safety‑relevant; maintain material pedigree; perform functional testing; configuration control.
Airworthy Metal Parts
Structural, load‑bearing, or safety‑critical metal AM components intended for flight.
Follow AMS metal AM standards; maintain full material pedigree; perform NDI; execute process/build/part qualification; mechanical testing; environmental/durability testing; AS9100 QMS; full configuration control and digital thread.
